Early Head Start
Early Head Start (EHS) is a free childhood development program for infants, toddlers under the age of 3, pregnant women and families who qualify. EHS promotes child development as well as supports parents in meeting personal goals and achieving self-sufficiency for their families. They do this through the use of trained professional staff, state-approved curricula and materials, and developmental milestone assessments. EHS offers home-based services that are provided through weekly home visits to each enrolled child and family or center-based services delivered primarily in classroom settings, located in an Early Head Start center, school, or child care center.
Head Start
Head Start (HS) provides children 3-5 years of age with high-quality, educational programming in a classroom setting. By teaching the basics of STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, art, math) and promoting health and nutrition, Head Start teachers and staff teach young children the skills they need to be successful in kindergarten and in life.
