About

Hello Baby is here to support every parent with a newborn in Allegheny County.

We know that no two families are alike, so Hello Baby was created to offer a variety of supports to meet families’ individual needs and interests. All families in Allegheny County can use the website and call the United Way PA's 2-1-1 Southwest warm line to get information and resources about breastfeeding, child development, parenting and more.

Families looking for connections in their communities can check out their local Family Center, where parents and kids can take classes, participate in activities and get access to basic needs. Families who want more individualized support can learn about home visiting programs offered throughout Allegheny County. There are a lot of free resources available to everyone, and some families will be offered additional support from a care team based on an assessment of need. With Hello Baby, parents are in the driver’s seat -- all services are voluntary.

In addition to the services available to all families, some might benefit from additional care coordination to help juggle the complexities of parenthood. Hello Baby Priority was created with this in mind. Eligible families are identified through assessments and community referrals. Hello Baby staff then contacts families to explain the benefits of the program and begin the enrollment process for those who choose to participate.

Hello Baby is a collaborative effort among family-focused organizations in Allegheny County including Allegheny County DHS, Health Department, Healthy Start, Family Centers, NurturePA, and the United Way of Southwestern PA.

This site was created for parents to quickly and easily find local resources. Researchers, members of the media, community organizations and others who want to learn more about Hello Baby, including the use of integrated data, can find more information here.
