Education Leading to Employment and Career Training (ELECT)
The ELECT program, for pregnant and parenting youth under 22 years of age, is offered in schools throughout Allegheny County and Pittsburgh Public. The goals are to help students remain in school, maintain regular school attendance, obtain a high school diploma or equivalent, secure post-graduation employment, education or training, and become successful parents and self-sufficient adults. This is achieved through:
- Case management for resource referrals and goal planning
- Peer and parenting groups & field trips
- Assistance with childcare subsidy paperwork
- Job and career planning workshops
- Quarterly home visits and and summer activities
